An industry team led by Lockheed Martin has recently launched the United States' seventh littoral combat ship (LCS), the future 'USS Detroit'.
Following christening and launch, the 'Detroit' will continue to undergo outfitting and testing before delivery to the United States Navy in 2015.
The US Navy awarded the contract to construct the 'Detroit' in March 2011. The ship is one of five currently under construction at Wisconsin-based shipyard Marinette Marine.
