TIPC Marine Corporation (TIPM), a subsidiary of state-owned Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC), has awarded Singapore-based Vallianz Holdings a contract for the construction of a new harbour tug.

The tug's construction will be based on a design by Khiam Chuan Marine. It will have a length of 35 metres and a total installed power of 2,386 kW to deliver a bollard pull of 40 tonnes.

The vessel will also be fitted with azimuth thrusters and two main engine-driven firefighting pumps.

Vallianz will build the tug at the facilities of its Batam, Indonesia-based subsidiary, United Sindo Perkasa (USP).

The tug will be delivered to TIPM in the second quarter of 2022. It will be based at the Port of Kaohsiung.
