Spain's Salvamento Maritimo search and rescue (SAR) agency has expressed its intent to acquire a newbuild response vessel for €8.3 million (US$9.85 million).
The vessel will have a hull made from either aluminium or FRP. It will also have a length of 37 metres, a beam of 8.3 metres, a draught of 2.5 metres, and space for eight crewmembers.
The agency added that the vessel will be capable of reaching speeds in excess of 25 knots or a range of 2,000 kilometres at a cruising speed of 15 knots.
The vessel's duties will include SAR, firefighting, and emergency towing of disabled vessels.
