Turkey's Sanmar Shipyards recently added a new compact tug to its own towage fleet.
Designed by Robert Allan Ltd, Delicay VIII measures 25.3 by 12 metres and is powered by two 2,100kW main engines that deliver a speed of 12 knots and a bollard pull of 75 tonnes.
The tug's wheelhouse is designed for maximum 360-degree visibility from the aft-based main console. The main engine exhaust stacks have been routed in areas of natural blind spots, such as the door frame and window mullions, to reduce visibility obstructions around the wheelhouse perimeter.
Overhead windows and a rotating mast allow for overhead visibility and the ability to undertake operations under the flare of a ship.
Ship handling and towing duties are performed using a double drum winch and dual aperture staple combination off the aft main deck.
The tug also has a dedicated diesel engine to provide power for its onboard firefighting pump.
Delicay VIII will be operated by Sanmar in the waters of Nemrut Bay, the portion of the Aegean Sea off Turkey's western coast.
