Baird Maritime

Portuguese operator MedTug has taken delivery of an ASD tug built by Sanmar Shipyards of Turkey.

Built in 2019, the Robert Allan Ltd-designed Med Antares has an LOA of 28.2 metres, a moulded beam of 12.6 metres, a maximum draught of 5.52 metres, and two MTU 16V4000 main engines that deliver a bollard pull of 75 tonnes.

The tug also boasts FiFi1 equipment consisting of a remotely operated 2,800m³/h pump powered by a dedicated Caterpillar C32 engine.

Med Antares is the second Sanmar-built tug to be sold to MedTug. The first tug, the 2017-built Med Altair, was delivered to the customer earlier this year.
