Baird Maritime

A Chinese shipyard has cut the first steel for a new tug ordered by Hongkong United Dockyards.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed, 42-metre tug will serve as a standby vessel for the first offshore LNG terminal in Hong Kong. Duties will include emergency towing, assistance with berthing LNG carriers, transport of passengers and equipment, firefighting, oil recovery, and crew rescue services.

The tug will be powered by dual-fuel propulsion.
