China Merchants Jinling Shipyard Weihai has floated out a new E-Flexer-class Ro-Pax ferry being built for Sweden's Stena Line.

The vessel is scheduled to be delivered in 2022. Once completed, it will have a length of 240 metres and capacity for up to 3,600 lane metres of freight.

Compared to its 214-metre E-Flexer sisters, the new ferry will have 50 per cent more cabins and beds, 30 per cent greater passenger capacity, and 15 per cent greater cargo capacity.

The vessel will also be gas-ready to allow for possible conversion of its engines to run on methanol or LNG. Shore charging equipment will also be installed.

Stena Line said the name of the new vessel and the locations where it will operate between will be announced later this year.
