Construction is nearly complete on a new shore power charging facility to be used by DFDS Seaways' ferries while at berth at their dedicated terminal at the Port of Copenhagen.
Two connection points will be established, with one on each quay at DFDS' ferry terminal on Dampfærgevej in Copenhagen. The installation will be delivered in a 40-foot container, which will be placed on the quay.
The installation will deliver 10 kV at 50 Hz. DFDS expects it will help result in an annual reduction of approximately 912 tonnes of CO2, 18 tonnes of NOx, and 0.4 tonnes of particulates.
The new charging facility is scheduled to become operational in the late summer of 2021. It will initially be used by Crown Seaways and Pearl Seaways, two cruiseferries that currently serve the DFDS daily round trip routes between Copenhagen and Oslo.
