French tour boat company Batorama has initiated a tender inviting qualified shipbuilders to bid for construction of a new zero-emission passenger vessel.
The Strasbourg-based operator said that the vessel will be the first of a new series of fully electric riverboats that will be introduced into service.
Under the terms of the tender, the new vessel should have all-aluminium construction, a sliding canopy to allow open-air sailing during days of clear weather, capacity for 153 passengers including persons with disabilities (PWDs), and a maximum endurance of 16 hours on battery power.
Batorama added that it expects to have an all-electric riverboat fleet within the next few years.
