Oregon-based defence shipbuilder Vigor Industrial is set to merge with Virginia ship repair firm MHI Holdings following the two companies' acquisition by The Carlyle Group and Stellex Capital Management.
The combined company will provide ship repair services and commercial and defence-related fabrication services for customers that include the US Navy, US Coast Guard, US Military Sealift Command, Boeing, fishing fleets and ferry services for local and state governments, and other commercial and defence customers.
The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close by the end of the third quarter of 2019.
