New Andaman Islands passenger vessel launched

Baird Maritime

Vijai Marine Shipyards designed the new passenger ferry Hornbill for the Director of Shipping Services – Andaman, an Indian Government body.

The particular route has heavy passenger traffic between the islands and the design needed to be highly efficient, meeting all statutory/regulatory compliance and operating within challenging constraints of draught, space, speed, dimensions, and most of all, competitive life cycle costs.

Hornbill is the first of four 150-passenger ferries of the same design ordered by the client.

A full review of Hornbill will appear in the September issue of Work Boat World magazine.
