Viking Cruises has announced an agreement with Fincantieri for the delivery of six additional ocean ships by 2027.

Raising the company's total ocean ship order and options to 16, the agreement for the ships to be delivered in 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 is subject to specific conditions.

Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen said 10 additional ships are already on order for delivery starting in 2021.

Classified as small ships and measuring 227.0 metres by 28.8 metres, Viking's all-veranda ocean ships have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tonnes, have 465 staterooms and host 930 guests.

This announcement comes days before the naming of Viking's fourth ocean ship, Viking Sun, on March 8 at Shanghai.
