Repairs completed on Oasis of the Seas following drydock mishap

Repairs on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Oasis of the Seas, which was damaged while in drydock in the Bahamas a month prior, were completed earlier this week at the Cadiz facilities of Spanish shipbuilder Navantia.

The repairs were carried out on the amphitheater and rear upper decks, which sustained damage after a dockyard crane fell on the vessel's stern as it was undergoing unscheduled maintenance at the Grand Bahamas Shipyard on April 1.

The incident injured eight dockyard workers and forced Royal Caribbean to cancel Oasis of the Seas' planned departures for April.

The vessel went into drydock in Cadiz on April 22 and left the yard on the afternoon (local time) of Tuesday, May 2. Royal Caribbean confirmed the vessel will resume operational sailing on May 5.
