Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku has cut the first steel to be used for the construction of the final vessel in a series ordered by Germany's TUI Cruises.

Once completed, the 316-metre-long Mein Schiff 7 will have balcony cabins and other cabin types for up to 2,849 guests. Amenities will include bars, restaurants, and a 25-metre swimming pool.

Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, said the vessel will be built to enable operation on methanol.
