Eidesvik Offshore has been awarded a five-year contract by Equinor Energy wherein the platform supply vessel (PSV) Viking Energy will be utilised as part of a full scale research programme using fuel cell technology in combination with ammonia.
The project aims to have 2MW fuel cell capacity installed onboard Viking Energy by 2024.
The research project is funded by the European Union and involves other Norwegian firms including Prototech and NCE Maritime Clean Tech.
