Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding completed conducting sea trials of a new self-elevating platform (SEP) on Tuesday, July 14.
Huangpu Wenchong claims Huaxiang Long ("Huaxiang Dragon") is one of the first Chinese-built self-propelled SEPs designed primarily for salvage operations.
The vessel has an LOA of 130 metres, a beam of 42 metres, four pile legs measuring 90 metres each, a DP2 system, a deck area of 2,800 square metres, and a maximum operating depth of 50 metres. It also has a helicopter deck and accommodations for up to 220 people.
Aside from carrying out salvage operations, the SEP may also be used for offshore heavy lift and transport as well as search and rescue (SAR).
Huaxiang Long will be delivered to the Guangzhou Salvage Bureau upon completion.
