US Coast Guard rescues four from burning crewboat off Louisiana

The US Coast Guard rescued four people from a vessel that caught fire in Chandeleur Sound, Louisiana, on Monday, October 8.

Watchstanders at the Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans received a report at 02:36 that the 36-metre crew/supply vessel Grand Sun was on fire near the Chandeleur Islands.

A coast guard MH-65 helicopter arrived on scene at 03:52 and recovered four people from the vessel.

The aircrew transported the people to emergency medical services at Air Station New Orleans.

No further details about the incident have been released.
