Sea Trucks christens Pipelay Heavylift Vessel

Sea Trucks has announced the christening of 'Jascon 34', the newly outfitted and commissioned offshore DP3 Pipelay Heavylift Vessel at the Kwong Soon shipyard in Singapore.

'Jascon 34' is a multi-purpose DP3, measuring118.80-metre by 30.40-metre, with 12,305kW of thrusters power. It is a construction vessel suitable for operations in deepwater regions. The vessel was delivered on schedule and on budget.

The vessel's key differentiators are its rigid and/or flexible pipelay capability, large flexible unobstructed deck area, high capacity cranage, large accommodation facility of 335 beds and its DP3 positioning system. This specialised vessel, built to American Bureau of Shipping Classification rules, will be operated by Sea Trucks Group globally.

'Jascon 34' has recently successfully completed sea and pipelay trials and will shortly commence its first assignment.

"We have now completed four vessels in our seven vessel DP3 investment programme," said Mr. Jacques J. Roomans, President and CEO of Sea Trucks.

"Three further state of the art vessels will also be delivered to us during the next two and a half years. With the completion of all our vessels in 2012, we will have one of the largest, most diversified and modern fleets in the global offshore construction market."
