The second and largest foundation for Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm has been installed off Denmark.
The Jan De Nul Group project team said the 10,000-tonne gravity-based foundation (GBF) was installed in favourable conditions only days after the first was successfully put in place.
The barge containing the GBF submerged, the heavy lift vessel Rambiz connected to the GBF through its crane hooks and towed out the structure once it started to float.
An assisting tug towed Rambiz and the structure to its final installation location, where the vessel set the structure down on the seabed.
Both have been installed on a gravel bedding layer prepared by multipurpose vessel Adhémar de Saint-Venant.
Adhémar de Saint-Venant will start with the ballasting of the structures and the scour protection works around them.
