The keel of a new floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) has been laid at the facilities of Chinese shipbuilder Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC).
The FPSO will be named Errea Wittu. Following delivery, it will be deployed by ExxonMobil Guyana approximately 200 kilometres offshore Guyana at a water depth of 1,690 metres.
The platform will be able to store around two million barrels of crude oil.
Offshore Frontier Solutions (OFS), a company under the MODEC Group and a joint venture with Toyo Engineering Corporation, will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the FPSO.
The platform will have a topside designed to produce approximately 250,000 barrels of oil per day and will have associated gas treatment capacity of 540 million cubic feet (15.3 million cubic metres) per day, water injection capacity of 350,000 barrels per day, and produced water capacity of 300,000 barrels per day.
Singapore shipbuilder Seatrium will be responsible for installation and integration of the FPSO's topside modules. The company will also provide completion and commissioning support.
ExxonMobil Guyana expects to take delivery of Errea Wittu by 2026.
