Odfjell has been awarded its first call-off contract under its drilling and wells alliance with Aker BP.

The 12-month contract for the semi-submersible Deepsea Stavanger will start as soon as the rig returns to Norway from its work with Total in South Africa in the second quarter of 2019.

The US$105 million contract excludes potential performance bonuses.

Accommodating 190 and designed for operations in harsh environments and at water depths of up to 3,000 metres, Deepsea Stavanger is equipped with a full conventional mooring spread for operations in water depths of 70 to 500 metres.

Meanwhile, Statoil has also exercised the first of four options with Odfjell for semi-submersible Deepsea Bergen.

To begin in the first or second quarter of 2018, the option covers two firm wells with a duration of 75 days. It continues another offshore drilling program for OMV.

Deepsea Bergen is a self-propelled semi-submersible unit of enhanced Aker H-3.2 design. Accommodating 110 and upgraded in 2012, the rig has operated mainly in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea since its launch in 1983.
