Maersk Supply Service receives third Stingray SSV

Subsea support vessel (SSV) Maersk Inventor has been delivered to offshore contractor Maersk Supply Service by the Dalian shipyard of China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO).

The third of four SSVs subsea being built under a US$470 million contract signed in August 2014, Maersk Inventor features a 22.0-metre diameter helideck and an 1,850-square-metre free deck area.

The Stingray-class subsea support vessel joins Maersk Installer and Maersk Involver, which were delivered in October and November.

The fourth Stingray SSV is scheduled for delivery in 2018.

Designed by Marin Teknikk with a length of 137 metres, and a 27-metre beam, the DP3 vessels feature a 400-tonne active heave-compensated crane and two work class remotely operated vehicles capable of operating in water depths of up to 3,000 metres.
