Keel laid for Prysmian cable layer

Vard has laid the keel for Leonardo da Vinci, a new cable-laying vessel ordered by Italy's Prysmian Group.

The €170 million (US$187 million) vessel is expected to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2021.

Leonardo da Vinci will have a length of 170 metres, a beam of 34 metres, a maximum speed in excess of 14 knots, a bollard pull above 180 tonnes, a DP3 system, and deep water installation capabilities for depths of more than 3,000 metres.
