UK firm to build renewables support vessel

Baird Maritime

UK builder Manor Marine has begun construction on a new multi-purpose vessel designed specifically to support activities in the offshore renewables industry.

The welded-steel, 20-metre vessel will be equipped for dive support, subsea cable support, towage, buoy maintenance, marine civil engineering, and dredging support. It will have a deck cargo capacity of 20 tonnes and a deck crane.

Two Volvo Penta D13-MH engines will deliver an estimated bollard pull of 12 tonnes and a maximum speed of approximately 10 knots.

The vessel will be suitable for operation in coastal waters. It will be built in accordance with Lloyd's Register Regulations and MCA Workboat Code CAT 2.

Construction is due to start in June 2022. The vessel is scheduled to be completed in early 2023 and will be held as stock upon delivery.
