Netherlands-based Royal IHC has handed over two new cutter suction dredgers (CSDs) in a series to an undisclosed client in India. The vessels will be utilised in support of port development projects.
The Bureau Veritas-classed CSDs each have an LOA of approximately 33 metres, a beam of 7.87 metres, a depth of 2.44 metres, a maximum draught of 1.65 metres, and a total installed power of 1,350 kW. Dredging can be performed at depths of up to 14 metres.
The vessels' standard design allows for short delivery times. This also means spare parts are available in stock.
Other key features on each dredger include a separate pump room to prevent the engine room from flooding, a cutter drive that can accept temporary overload, and a cabin that can seat one operator. An onboard toilet is also available.
The CSDs are of modular assembly. This means they can be easily disassembled, transported, and then reassembled at work sites.
