State-owned China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) has fully completed land reclamation works valued at approximately US$1.4 billion for the Colombo International Financial City project.
Nearly 269 hectares of land were reclaimed under the project, which aims to provide among other things a 62-hectare special jurisdiction area for multinational companies wishing to do business in Sri Lanka's largest city.
An official of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka has confirmed that reclamation works were completed three months ahead of schedule.
