Dutch marine contractor Baars has completed dredging works to support the expansion of the Port of La Turballe on the west coast of France.
Baars extracted approximately 60,000 cubic metres of sand from the harbour while 20,000 cubic metres of material was used to lay the foundations of the future breakwater. For the project, Baars utilised one of its four 160-cubic-metre split hopper barges and dredging equipment from Merceron.
The works were carried out as part of a broader project to convert the port into a maintenance facility for turbines that will be installed at the Saint Nazaire offshore wind farm 12 kilometres off the coast.
