Russia's Pella Shipyard has conducted a keel-laying ceremony for the first Project 03070 crab-catching vessel.
Designed for crab catching by cone traps, the 50.4-metre by 12-metre vessel features grid baskets and live-crab transporting in tanks with RSW-type sea-cooled water.
The 585DWT vessels have a 450-cubic-metre catch capacity and bait store capacity of 30 cubic metres.
Powered by a 1,200kW at 1,000rpm engine, the КМ Ice2 AUT3 (REF) vessel has an operating speed of 12 knots and range of 6,000 nautical miles.
Being built for Antey, the contract was signed before the ceremony at the Leningrad shipyard.
Pella has confirmed it intends to construct a series of fishing ships at Primorye in Russia's far east.
