UK research project to determine viability of fish farm waste as marine fuel

Baird Maritime

UK-based Green Fuels Research is leading a project which will demonstrate the use of waste from fish farming to produce sustainable marine fuel.

A Maritime Research and Innovation UK (MarRI-UK) initiative supported by the UK Department for Transport, the Salmo project will convert waste biomass from salmon farming into drop-in fuels suitable for use in marine diesel engines.

The project is a collaboration between Green Fuels Research, the University of Cardiff, and London South Bank University.
