Focus on Fishing and Aquaculture

Baird Maritime

This month's focus on fishing and aquaculture is noteworthy for the fact that half of the newbuild vessels that are reviewed are Norwegian-owned. Aside from the usual trawlers and seiners are wellboats and service vessels fitted with hybrid propulsion systems to reduce their environmental impact during operation in some of the country's more sensitive coastal and offshore areas.

Trawling • Longlining • Seining • Potting • Aquaculture • Mariculture

Other countries are also represented this week. We will review new crab boats for Greenland and Russian waters, a prawn catcher built for the challenging conditions of the North Sea off Scotland, and versatile catamaran workboats now in service in New Zealand's coastal areas.

Indeed, the fishing and aquaculture sectors are never short on innovation, as evidenced by the vessels and related technology regularly featured on Baird Maritime.
