DEME Offshore wraps up foundation installation at Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm
DEME Offshore and French company Eiffage Metal have completed installation of 80 turbine foundations at the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm in French waters.
The installation works began in the spring of 2021. The equipment deployed for the installation includes a 350-tonne offshore foundation drill and a 60-metre-high monopile drilling, installation and grouting system (MODIGA) that allows drilling to be performed even under the adverse marine conditions typical in the Atlantic.
The Saint-Nazaire wind farm will have a total capacity of 480 MW or the equivalent of 20 per cent of the French department Loire-Atlantique's electricity needs.
Fugro secures two-year extension for site characterisation off South Korea
Fugro has been awarded an extension of two years to its existing memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korean company Underwater Survey Technology 21 (UST21) regarding site characterisation and related services.
The works being carried out by Fugro under the MOU are in support of the development of offshore wind farms in South Korean waters.
The collaboration between Fugro and UST21 commenced in 2019 upon the signing of the MOU.
Green Energy Group awarded OBN source work in Western Hemisphere
The Green Energy Group has been awarded a contract for ocean bottom node (OBN) source work for an undisclosed client in the Western Hemisphere.
The contract will commence in the second half of August 2022 and will have a duration of 14 months including mobilisation and demobilisation.
Vineyard Wind taps ThayerMahan for surveys off Massachusetts
US offshore wind operator Vineyard Wind has entered into a partnership with Connecticut-based autonomous systems specialist ThayerMahan for seabed and infrastructure survey and inspection work in the waters off southern Massachusetts.
The operations will be executed with the aid of a Hornbeck Offshore Services host vessel with mobilisation and demobilisations being conducted from Gateway Terminal's Montville facility at Horton Point.
The DeepOcean Group, with engineering support services provided by Jacobs Engineering, will provide the remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to be used for the surveys.
