The future US Navy Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. completed acceptance trials on Thursday, September 16, after spending two days at sea.
During the trials, the navy's Board of Inspection and Survey inspected the ship performing a series of demonstrations while pierside and underway. Many of the ship's onboard systems, including navigation, damage control, mechanical and electrical systems, combat systems, communications, and propulsion applications, were tested to validate performance and met or exceeded navy specifications.
The future Frank E. Petersen Jr. is scheduled for delivery to the navy later this year following final outfitting at Huntington Ingalls Industries' (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding facilities in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
