The US Navy has awarded L3Harris Technologies a contract for the development of a single medium unmanned surface vehicle (MUSV) prototype with options for the procurement of up to eight additional MUSVs.
The contract has a value of approximately US$35 million. If all options are exercised, the contract will be valued at US$294.5 million.
The MUSVs will be used in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) as well as electronic warfare missions.
The prototype is expected to be delivered to the navy in fiscal year 2023.
