The US Coast Guard is currently searching for four fishermen approximately 32 kilometres northeast of Provincetown, Massachusetts, after their vessel was reported missing on Monday, November 23.
Watchstanders at First District Coast Guard Command Center in Boston received a notification at 01:00 local time on Monday from the EPIRB of the fishing vessel Emmy Rose, which had earlier sailed out of its homeport of Portland, Maine.
The vessel's owner then reported to the coast guard that there were four people aboard and there were no answers on the vessel's satellite phone.
The coast guard immediately despatched the Reliance-class medium endurance cutter Vigorous and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew out of Air Station Cape Cod to search for the missing Emmy Rose. However, upon arrival at the vessel's last known position, the coast guard personnel found only debris and an empty life raft.
The coast guard said that 30-knot winds and wave heights of up to two metres have been reported in the area where Emmy Rose was last seen.
