BOOK REVIEW | A Carrier at Risk – Argentine Aircraft Carrier and Anti-Submarine Operations Against the Royal Navy’s Attack Submarines During the Falklands/Malvinas War, 1982

Neil Baird

By Mariano Sciaroni

A most interesting and thought-provoking book that valuably describes an important but largely forgotten small war. Because that war utilised comparatively modern weapons and doctrine, this description is of particular value to the current generation of naval officers. It is equally of value to naval history enthusiasts.

Presented in a very well-illustrated "magazine" format, Mr Sciaroni's forensic lawyer's approach provides valuable insights into what happened in 1982 along the Argentine coast and out to the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. He has gone to considerable trouble researching the records of both sides in that conflagration.

His analysis reveals much that will be of interest to the current generation of both submariners and anti-submariners. It offers a valuable contribution both to their professional educations and to the wider field of naval history more generally.
