We again feature the exciting world that is the global passenger vessel industry, with reviews of newly delivered vessels ranging from tour boats to large inter-island ferries.
The geographical scope is vast, as we see new vessels entering service in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and the Far East. This is one indication that the demand for these capable vessels continues to grow.
Lower-emission propulsion systems are also being increasingly implemented on these vessels, as evidenced in three newbuilds being reviewed this week. We are also seeing variety in designs, from conventional monohulls to catamarans promising greater stability.
Passenger vessels serving various markets continue to evolve and adapt to the times, and we at Baird Maritime are delighted to regularly feature these ubiquitous workboats.
– "Common sense suggests that despite a number of catastrophic fires that have destroyed car carriers and their cargoes in recent months, it is safer to carry vehicles in a ship designed specifically for that purpose."
– by Michael Grey, maritime industry legend and former long-term editor of Lloyd's List
