We turn our focus this week to the marine pollution control industry, particularly four newbuild vessels operating within that industry. One is an oil spill response vessel built for Chinese waters and another is a hybrid-powered crane vessel optimised for inland sailings in the Netherlands.
The remaining two featured vessels are autonomous rubbish-collecting vessels operated by an environmental non-profit and presently deployed in two countries in Southeast Asia. These two vessels are the latest examples of a design that has already proven its capability in the Caribbean.
This month's focus on pollution control also includes a feature on an ongoing project that seeks to maximise the potential of uncrewed vessels and artificial intelligence in ridding the seafloor of rubbish. Development of this project is progressing well with two successful trials already completed in European waters.
We invite readers of Baird Maritime to visit regularly to read some of the latest developments in this ever-important industry.
