Focus on Marine Engines and Propulsion Systems

Baird Maritime

Our focus on marine propulsion systems once again includes a lineup of reviewed vessels boasting an assortment of propulsion configurations, from conventional engines to batteries. In addition to the newbuild fishing and aquaculture vessels being featured this week, we also look at a Chinese-developed unmanned demonstrator vessel, electric workboats acquired by a Dutch charter operator, and a compact outboard-equipped craft for inland and nearshore use.

Engines • Gensets • Gearboxes • Outboards • FPP • CPP • Waterjets • Sterndrives • Hybrid/Electric • Thrusters • Renewables • Nuclear • Gas Turbines

We will also highlight a new development project in Norway wherein a consortium is working towards the introduction of battery-powered vessels that will support the offshore industry. Although the initial examples of the vessel are not yet in service, the project is still noteworthy for its goal of addressing some of the emissions-related issues in shipping.

We at Baird Maritime invite readers to regularly visit our pages for updates on the marine propulsion systems industry.
