It has been an interesting period for the global fishing and aquaculture industries, with operations during the Covid-19 pandemic being regulated but less affected than many of the other workboat sectors.
Numerous state-of-the-art and impressive new fishing boats and aquaculture support vessels continued to be delivered, driving innovation across the maritime industry as a whole.
The industry is well placed moving forward, with fish stocks, in general, being in good shape and much of the industry understanding the urgency of sustainable fishing and farming practices. Notable exceptions, of course, remain among the usual suspects. Innovations on the farming side continue to drive impressive quality and productivity gains.
This good news has prompted massive investment in new and better vessels and equipment. Some new and impressive examples of these will be seen on these pages during Fisheries and Aquaculture Week.
