Towing and marine services company Smit Lamnalco has ordered four azimuth stern drive (ASD) tugs from Damen Shipyards for projects in Australia and Oman.
Damen will build the tugs, which have a bollard pull of 80 tonnes, for delivery between June and September next year.
The Rotterdam-based Smit Lamnalco has 55 Damen vessels in its fleet.
Two of these 32-metre-long tugs will be built to operate on a Rio Tinto project at Weipa in Queensland, Australia.
The other two will be built for Smit Lamnalco to operate at Port of Sur in Oman for a fertiliser project.
The tugs will be operated by the joint venture Bahwan Lamnalco Company and the Oman India Fertiliser Company.
