Baird Maritime founder to present at London conferences

Baird Maritime

Doctor Neil Baird, a co-founder of Baird Maritime and Honorary Fellow of the Australian National Centre for Ocean Research and Security at the University of Wollongong, will be presenting at two important international conferences in London in early October.

The first presentation will be on Monday, October 6 to the Interferry 2019 Conference. Dr Baird, a member of the FerrySafe group, a sub-committee of Interferry's domestic ferry safety committee, which is financially supported by the Lloyd's Register Foundation, will report on the preliminary work of FerrySafe following two recent investigatory missions to the Philippines. He will describe the impressive improvements in ferry safety achieved recently in that country and describe what FerrySafe recommends could be adapted by other countries with poor ferry safety records.

On Wednesday, October 6, he will participate in a debate at the Lloyd's Register Foundation's International Conference "Engineering a Safer World". The Safety Challenges Debate will look at the greatest safety challenges we face and how we can best tackle them.

The outcomes of both conferences will be reported on Baird Maritime shortly after their conclusions.
