Floating transfer dock to be constructed at Zvezda Shipyard

Zvezda Far Eastern Yard, China Shipbuilding and Offshore International (CSOC) and Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry (BSIC) have signed a contract for the construction and delivery of a floating transfer dock facility for the Zvezda shipbuilding complex.

The 40,000-tonne floating transfer dock will be used to assist the construction of marine engineering facilities at the shipyard.

According to the contract, the Chinese companies will develop the design, manufacture the equipment, train the crew and conduct the final trial of the barge in Bolshoi Kamen Bay located in the far east of Russia.

The Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex project will specialise in building large ships and the deployment of its production facilities.

On completion of the construction project, the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex will be able to construct tankers with a displacement of up to 350,000 tonnes, LNG carriers up to 250,000 cubic metres, ice class vessels, specialised vessels with a launch weight up to 29,000 tonnes, offshore platform units, and other types of ships.
